Letter from the Administrator:

Dear Residents, Families and Coworkers,

As the saying goes “April Showers Bring May Flowers” and the coming of spring, renewal and a new beginning. In our case it also appears to be bringing our annual survey from Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services or KDADS.

As mentioned last month this is a survey that Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) requires on an annual basis. The survey process involves various stages and is planned in advance by surveyors but is unannounced.

Surveyors prepare offsite for their visit by reviewing any number of tracking data submitted by our staff, previous surveys, input from residents, their families and staff. Focus is on the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents.

The process can last take a few days up to weeks and uses (in part) “Quality Measures and Indicators” as a basis for their review. Residents, staff and family members are also interviewed as part of the process.

At the conclusion of the survey the facility is given a summary of their findings based on state and federal regulations. These “deficiencies” as they are called, identify areas that the surveyors feel need improvement, or correction.

Ultimately results of survey are posted for review on CMS website or can be viewed in our facility. Findings of most recent survey are located near nurse’s station. Please feel free to review and should you have any questions please feel free to ask.
